GWO BST Manual Handling Training

Course overview

The GWO Basic Safety Training Manual Handling module has been designed to give participants the awareness to encourage positive manual handling behaviours and perform manual handling activities in a safe manner in the wind turbine industry.

By the end of this course, delegates will be able to demonstrate:

  1. An understanding of the importance of completing work in a safe and sound manner in accordance with the legislative requirements of their location

  2. Identify aspects of their job tasks that could increase a worker’s risk of developing muscular/skeletal injuries

  3. An understanding of safe practices for manual handling including the correct handling of equipment.

  4. The ability to identify signs and symptoms of injuries related to poor manual handling techniques and have knowledge of reporting methods.

  5. A problem solving approach to manual handling in a wind turbine environment.

  6. Manual handling risk reduction techniques.

Course assessment

Practical and written.

All successful candidates will receive a MB Globalus Mokymai and a Global Wind Organisation approved certificate valid for 2 years. Certificates must be renewed within 2 years of the date of assessment​.

Admission requirements

Attendees should be medically and physically fit to carry out the practical part of the course and free from medical contra-indications that may prevent them from working safely. Course participants will be required to self-certify their medical and physical fitness before commencement of the course. 

Participants should be aged 18 years or over.

Important

From 17 October 2016, delegates who attend a GWO Training course must create a profile in WINDA  in order to get a WINDA ID which they must supply to ARCH prior to completing the training.
